The key point

Start here

A framework for asking facilities about costs without relying on numbers that cannot be verified.

This is an educational summary, not a diagnosis or final treatment recommendation.

Why TanyaKanker does not publish prices

Cancer treatment costs vary by facility, regimen, treatment length, and payment status. Numbers shared without context can be misleading.

TanyaKanker does not publish price estimates. It provides questions that help patients obtain official written figures from a facility.

Cost questions to ask

Ask for a written breakdown so offers can be compared and unexpected mid-treatment charges are easier to avoid.

  • Which components are included: medicine, procedures, room, laboratory, and imaging?
  • Are drug prices separate from administration and monitoring costs?
  • How many cycles are expected, and how do costs change if treatment is extended?
  • Are there administrative costs for patients from another city or country?
  • What is the payment policy if treatment stops midway?

Build cost questions that can be answered

Questions separated by component are easier for a facility to answer in writing.

This diagram explains the sequence of assessment and discussion. It is not treatment advice or an eligibility decision.

Build your cost questions
  1. Separate the components

Medicines, administration, monitoring, imaging, and inpatient care may be billed separately.

  2. Ask how charges are calculated

Include differences between formulations, doses, and room classes.

  3. Ask about payer coverage

Request written clarification for each component.

  4. Request a written estimate

When available, before the treatment course starts.

  5. Keep the answers

So comparisons between facilities do not depend on memory.

It is better to ask about unverified costs in writing than to assume them.

Financing routes often asked about

Payment may come from insurance, employer programs, manufacturer patient assistance, or self-payment. Each route has its own documents.

Ask explicitly whether a specific medicine is covered, because coverage often differs between medicines in the same class.

  • Is this regimen covered by insurance, and under what conditions?
  • Is a referral letter or prior approval required?
  • Is there a patient assistance program for the medicine?
  • What documents are needed for submission?

Planning the family budget

In addition to medical costs, include transport, accommodation, and caregiver costs when treatment takes place in another city. These are often missed at the start.
