KRAS
Other names: KRAS G12C, KRAS G12D, KRAS mutation
Some specific KRAS changes in lung cancer can now be targeted, while others remain limited to standard pathways or clinical trials.

Not a diagnosis and not final medical advice. Must be reviewed by a doctor.
Plain explanation
KRAS is a gene that regulates growth signals. Mutations in this gene are quite common findings in lung cancer. What matters is the specific type of change, not just the mutation status.
Clinical meaning
KRAS G12C alterations have specific inhibitor options, while other alterations are generally directed to standard pathways or clinical trials. KRAS mutations often appear together with other markers such as STK11 or KEAP1, which can also influence the discussion.
Testing methods
- Next-generation sequencing (NGS)
A test that reads many genes from one tumour sample to find actionable changes.
- KRAS PCR
A focused test for specific changes in the KRAS gene.
- Liquid biopsy (ctDNA)
A blood test that looks for tumour genetic material to supplement or partly replace tissue testing.
A negative result does not always mean the marker is absent
Test sensitivity differs by sample type and method. Results need to be read together with the pathology report and clinical condition.
What needs verification
- Specific codon and amino acid changes in laboratory reports.
- Does the molecular panel also report co-mutation markers?
- PD-L1 status, because it is sometimes discussed together.
- Availability of medicines in Indonesia and financing channels.
