Immunotherapy

Treatment that helps the immune system recognise and attack cancer cells, usually through immune checkpoint inhibitors.

ImunoterapiDraft, not yet medically reviewed

Not a diagnosis and not final medical advice. Must be reviewed by a doctor.

What is it?

Immunotherapy works through the immune system so the response pattern can be different from chemotherapy.

Some patients experience a lasting response, others do not get the expected benefits.

Markers such as PD-L1 and MSI/MMR are often part of the consideration.

Antibodies inhibit signals that suppress the immune system so that T cells become more active against cancer cells.

What is the process like?

  1. Preparation 1

History of autoimmune disease and lung disease.

  2. Preparation 2

    Basic laboratory examination.

  3. Preparation 3

Discussion of the risk of reactions related to the immune system.

  4. Monitoring

Monitor for systemic symptoms at each visit.

All preparation

  • History of autoimmune disease and lung disease.
  • Basic laboratory examination.
  • Discussion of the risk of reactions related to the immune system.

All monitoring

  • Monitor for systemic symptoms at each visit.
  • Periodic laboratory tests, including thyroid function.

Risks and points to watch

Side-effect notes, not a complete list

This list covers categories commonly discussed. Individual risk is always assessed by the treating team.
  • Reactions related to the immune system can occur in the skin, intestines, lungs, liver or endocrine glands.
  • Symptoms such as shortness of breath or severe diarrhea need to be checked immediately.
  • Some side effects may appear after therapy is completed.

Questions for the doctor

  • What is the basis for considering immunotherapy in this case?
  • What symptoms should be reported immediately?
  • What is the plan for regular check-ups during therapy?

Is Immunotherapy relevant for my case?

Ask for an initial review. We will explain which documents and markers need to be completed before discussion with a doctor.

  1. Upload reports

Photos or PDFs of pathology, biomarkers, imaging and treatment history.

  2. Case structured

Documents are turned into a structured case summary.

  3. Navigator review

A human navigator checks completeness before anything is shared.

  4. Provider review

With your consent, the case is discussed with providers for assessment and a written quote.
