CD20
Other names: CD20 positive
CD20 is a classic marker in B-cell lymphoma and is the basis for a major antibody therapy group.

Not a diagnosis and not final medical advice. Must be reviewed by a doctor.
Plain explanation
CD20 is a protein on the surface of B cells that has long been used to identify B cell lymphoma in pathological examinations.
Clinical meaning
CD20 positivity helps confirm the tumor cell origin and is a consideration in the category of anti-CD20 antibody therapy, including in B-cell non-Hodgkin lymphoma.
Testing methods
- Immunohistochemistry (IHC)
A test that uses antibodies to mark specific proteins in tumour tissue.
- Flow cytometry
A test that rapidly measures cell-surface markers across many cells.
- Tumour tissue biopsy
Collection of tumour tissue to confirm the diagnosis and provide material for further testing.
A negative result does not always mean the marker is absent
Test sensitivity differs by sample type and method. Results need to be read together with the pathology report and clinical condition.
What needs verification
- Immunohistochemistry report confirming CD20 positivity.
- Classify lymphoma specifically, not just a common name.
- History of previous anti-CD20 therapy and response.
- Availability of drugs and suitability of financing.
