MSI-high or dMMR
A DNA repair-deficient state that opens an immunotherapy category in several cancers.
Parent marker: MSI / MMR
Not a diagnosis and not final medical advice. Must be reviewed by a doctor.
Clinical meaning
Tumors with dMMR are often easier for the immune system to recognize. These findings are also sometimes related to genetic risk in the family so counseling may be discussed.
How this finding appears in a report
Examined by MMR immunohistochemistry or microsatellite PCR, or through a sequencing panel.
When therapy stops working
Progression after immunotherapy usually prompts re-examination and discussion of clinical trials.
What needs verification
- The examination methods used and the raw results.
- Is there an indication for genetic counseling for the patient and family?
- Compliance with immunotherapy criteria applicable to the relevant cancer type.
Marker context: MSI / MMR
Tumors with MSI-high or dMMR are generally discussed in the immunotherapy category, and some cancers are also directed to evaluation of genetic risk in the family.
A negative result does not always mean absent
